The problem of male skincare

From my experience (as a girlfriend, best friend, and stepsister) the average man does not care one iota about their skincare. This annoys me. I'm not sure if I'm really allowed to let it annoy me, but It does anyway.

My boyfriends cuticles and nail beds are ripped to shreds. This annoys him, so he rips at them to make them "go away", which in the long run makes them worse and it all becomes a very vicious circle. I bought him hand cream, on his request no less, which I think he has used all of one time. He's religious about washing his face with a generic clean and clear wash in the shower, because of bad teenage acne, but he laughs in my face when I suggest using other skincare products to target other areas, such as blackheads or shine control.

Don't get me wrong, I adore him the way he is - his funny little nail skin ripping quirk and all, but I wish there was some way I could get him to care about his skincare just a little bit more. And not just him either - one of my best male friends scoffed at me the other day when I suggested an after shave balm to soothe his skin.

So my question to you is, do the men in your life care about their skincare? Is there a way to gently guide them towards doing so?
